It’s finally 2022, and that means we are just weeks away from our biggest milestone so far, GROUND BREAKING DAY. This is when we will finally stick some shovels in the ground and start digging the foundations for our distillery.
In order for us to get everything organised, we need to know how many people are going to rock up and be a part of it. To help you to make that decision, here are some key highlights as we see them happening.
Travelling out to Longyan on Thursday 17th February 2022. Everyone will probably stay in downtown Longyan City. Hotels there are easy enough to book and arrange.
Early on Friday morning, probably around 7am, we’ll be collecting everyone in a coach and driving out to the site. It’s between 30 and 45 minutes drive during rush hour.
Arrival onsite for an 08:30am start. An 60-90 minutes of speeches, 30 minutes of digging, 30-60 minutes of photos and then we all pile in to a Texas style barbecue with beers, wines and whisky.
The coach would take everyone back to downtown Longyan at some point in the afternoon. Those less intoxicated are probably going to want to have a group meal together.
We would expect most people would want to leave Longyan on Saturday 19th February.
How Many Rambos Is It Gonna Cost Eh?
100-500 per night for your hotel depending on what you choose. We might be able to get a discount if a group of us want to stay at the same hotel.
Travel to Longyan will vary according to where you’re travelling from, but as an example, trains from Shenzhen North are ¥244 – ¥391 each way, depending on the class of seat you prefer. Example screen below from CTRIP but using local booking apps will be cheaper.
We are not aware of any savings we could make in a group booking as it seems there would be too many methods of travel from too many locations to try and coordinate. A shared coach from Shenzhen (where a lot of people are based) would probably be more trouble than it’s worth as the journey would be double the length of time that a train would take.
Hotels for 2 nights could be ¥286 – ¥382 for a 3 star. Or ¥916 – ¥1916 for a 5 star. Examples below on CTRIP, and again, using local booking apps will be cheaper. We can do 2 group bookings – one for a 3 star and one for a 5 star. The 5 star will be the Wanda Realm and the 3 star will be as close to that hotel as possible. Whatever saving we make, will be passed on directly to you all.
You’ll have to feed yourself outside of the barbecue on Friday and anyone coming out to dinner on Friday night, we would split the bill between us all.
What Do You Get For Free:
Booze on Friday from morning until late afternoon. A Texas barbecue. A shovel. Some photographs. Some memories. Plus at least an hour of insults and abuse from, Jay to most of you, for being lazy asses when it comes to rolling up your sleeves and getting involved. Some of you will also probably be shot dead, on site.
