It’s finally the time that most y’all been waitin’ for.
The Nine Rivers Distillery Diggin’ n Sippin’ jamboree with our special guest super star singer for the night, all the way from Texas in the US of A. Tiny Tim.
For the newer folk in the group, it’s the even that should have happened in February, where open an invite to you all to come on down to the village that we now call home, get a shovel in the ground and start helping us to excavate about 140’000 cubic meters of mud so we can pour in some concrete.
Well we did advise you that we were doing this on a low budget and we expected everyone to roll up their sleeves and get involved…….
Okay, so joking aside. We won’t be doing the excavation by hand. It will be done with some heavy machinery, – but before all that happens it makes sense to get everyone down for some scoff, some glugs, lots of photos and maybe even a sing song from Tim. He proved his talent a few whisky nights ago with an extensive repertoire of cowboy crooning and hillbilly hollerin’
So here’s the date. FRIDAY 30th SEPTEMBER 2022 in Da Chi, Longyan, Fujian Province.
Take note. This is ONE DAY before the national golden week holiday. Ergo, we would advise you all to get booking your transport ASAP. Train, plane, donkey cart, whatever. You should get your travel ticket as soon as possible.
We would advise you to travel on Thursday 29th September 2022. Stay overnight. Event will be the next day and we will no doubt organise a coach to collect you all, take you to the site, and maybe even drop you all back in town afterwards.
Due to the likely consumption of alcohol, you would probably want to stay in Longyan for Friday night and either go exploring the area over the weekend, or travelling back from when you came.
We will not be offering to organise hotels. We made the offer back in February. Almost no one wanted to be a part of a group booking (thus potentially earning y’all a discount) so we’ll leave you all to your own devices. However, we’d suggest you use something like CTRIP as opposed to Booking.com as it seems CTRIP is almost always cheaper.
Wives, Husbands, Kids etc.
Better halves are welcome. Husbands, wives, life partners, no problem at all. They are welcome.
Kids – entirely your own decision. However, please be aware of the fact that (with all due respect) your kids are your own responsibility. The event will be a huge crowd of adults, probably drunk as farts with adult language a plenty and huge clouds of smoke from cigars and vapes.
There’s no on site creche. The site is a BUILDING SITE. We will do our best to level it off, but it will still be rough, uneven round with drill holes and boulders scattered everywhere. Younger, bouncy, hyperactive kids might end up with you spending your weekend in the local Accident and Emergency hospital……which is about 40 kilometers from the site.
Volunteers
If anyone wants to roll up their sleeves and get involved in making this happen, then whack a PM over to that brummie with an idea of what you would like to in terms or time, effort, ideas or the such. What would be really useful to consider is:
- We are doing this on as little cost as possible, so requests for anything that is going to cost a stack of rambos is probably going to be a no.
- We have extremely limited resources – remember there’s only 4 of us working for 9RD and all of us are already clocking in stupid hours. So, fantastic ideas for fun, games, entertainment and amusement are welcome – if you’re prepared to take care of it and make it happen.
The types of things that would be useful if anyone can help out:
Photography – the more the merrier.
Videos – if anyone has the hardware and can shoot some clips that we can stitch together.
Drones? Anyone with a drone that can shoot movies and do a few flyovers?
Non-Drinkers – totally welcome and could be useful if we need someone to drive in case of any emergencies.
